Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (Breast Cancer)

Biggest Fear When Diagnosed

That I might not make it............

How did you overcome that fear?

Through plenty of Support and a Positive attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What got you through your cancer experience?

Support from my Parents and All my relatives and good friends and a couple of Cancer Groups that I belong to (Yahoo)

What advice would you like to pass on to others?

Keep a Positive Attitude,I know it is hard sometimes but it really does help!!!!!!!! Joining a Support group also helps. That way you can talk to people going through what you're going through, ask questions, get advice and just have somebody to lean on and cheer you up when your down.

What would you like to tell other women who are either newly diagnosed or too afraid to seek treatment?

Medical technology is a Whole Lot Better now-a-days and Doctors have New and Different procedures to deal with various Cancers. Have someone go with you to the Dr. it will help in that, that person can be there as a Support system and also remember things the Dr says that you may not remeber during your visit.

Best advice given to me by a Survivor

Keep a Positive Attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MY STORY

user_story_field

I'm a 42 yr. old Male who was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in my left Breast. I discovered the lump one day while showering. I did not do anyhting about it for a month or so. When I finally brought it up to my Mom (an Ex-Nurse) she suggested I have it checked out. We went to a local clinic and they did a Sonagram and Strongly suggested that I have it looked at at a Hospital. I first hada Lumpectomy done and then found out the Lump was Cancerous. I then transferred to Johns Hopkins for All other Medical treatments. At Hopkins I had a Mastectomy followed shortly after by 8 Chemo treatments and 31 treatments of Radiation. My Parents and All my Friends and Relatives helped me get through it and the 2 Cancer Support Groups I belong to. I'm now on Tamoxafin for 5 yrs. and see Dr's every 3 months or so for Routine Check-ups.
